Manx Electric Railway Tramcar No.2 with Trailer No.59 waits to depart from Douglas, Derby Castle with a special working for Ramsey on 4th April 1991. Another trailer, No.58, is parked behind.
Car No.2 is one of a trio of tramcars supplied for the opening of the line in 1893. The two cars that remain in service, Nos.1 and 2, hold a joint entry in the Guinness book of records as the oldest fully operational tramcars in the world that still operate on their original running lines. Unfortunately No.3 was destroyed by fire at Laxey car sheds in 1930.
