Castlerigg Stone Circle plus lots of visitors (more out of shot) on a sunny February morning.
Standing on a slight prominence, Castlerigg is surrounded on all sides by the fells of the northern Lake District. This is the view to the south-east with High Rigg beyond the circle and the Helvellyn 'ridge' forming the skyline. Helvellyn itself is the most faintly visible peak about 1/4 of the way in from the right (above the stone which is perhaps the most pointy, look for the note on the pic).
The circle itself is about 100 ft in diameter with a small rectangular inset (thought to be a later addition) giving about 50 stones in total. There's an aerial view (scroll down on the right) here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlerigg_stone_circle#/media/File...(SimonLedingham)Jul2005.jpg.

A beautiful morning to wander around Cragside, near Rothbury. Just 11 miles from home - I think we'll be fairly regular visitors!
