An escape from assembling flat-pack furniture, emptying boxes and trying to do a change of address when most systems don't recognise the postcode!

14 days after our home contents headed off one way into storage whilst we headed off in a different direction as nomads, we were re-united at our new abode in Alnwick. Hence my virtual non-appearance here for the last few weeks.
The house is gradually taking shape and though we have a little more floor area than previously, what a new-build doesn't initially have is any fitted-out storage (except kitchen units) - thus box emptying has been slowed whilst stuff has been assembled to provide storage (thank goodness for the flat-pack revolution!).
I think my visits are still likely to be more sporadic than regular, but hopefully 'normal service' will be resumed in the not-too-distant future :)

The Brizlee Wood early warning radar dome on Alnwick Moor. The perimeter wall of Hulne Park probably has more stone in it than Hadrian's Wall these days - it stretches for miles and is about 10 feet tall!

Hulne Park, the Duke of Northumberland's detached garden - just like we had in our old house in Little Odell!
Hulne Park is somewhat bigger than ours was: 3000 acres versus 0.25 acres, 10 miles of wall versus 450 feet of hedge, and containing two abbeys, we had 2 sheds......
It's a stunning place especially with autumn colours on display.

Cycling hasn't figured much in the past couple of months with moving and all that - and the hilliness of the Alnwick area has kind of dissuaded me since I'm used to the relative flat of Bedfordshire!
All routes start or finish with a steep uphill eg the way home from Alnwick town centre has an average gradient 8.2% over the final 1/4 mile from the bus station, peaking at 18% (according to Strava), all of which is a bit much for my ancient legs. I just about managed to do it yesterday after 2 failed attempts, when I chose to get off instead of risking throwing up!
Still it's very beautiful - if you have the energy to look up from a point a yard ahead of the bike's front wheel!
The 'end' for me is just past the upper set of road bollards, but the hill carries on upwards beyond the 'crest' seen in the shot - a ride yet to be attempted!
