The sun beginning to illuminate the banks of the River Rawthey on the edge of Sedbergh.
The next day after 24hrs of rain it would be a raging and scary torrent.

The Holy Island (or Lindisfarne) causeway on an incoming tide. Definitely No Go! The village can be seen in the distance on the right of shot, and the right-hand white 'blob' is one of the refuges for stranded motorists/pedestrians.
Each year about a dozen motorists get stranded and require rescuing by the Seahouses inshore lifeboat, the latest call-out being in August this year.
We had visited the island in the morning and came back down after lunching at the (highly recommended) Barn at Beal which sits between the A1 and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

The sad sight of the first building of Greensfield Farm Steading reduced to rubble as its demolition commences to allow the building of 19 new homes.
It looked like this flic.kr/p/2p69VCT until just over a week ago. In this shot the left hand barn is gone and since then the rooves of the two barns to the right have been removed.
On a positive note, you can see the sea either side of the Steadiing rooftops!

The ruins of the 12th century Lindisfarne Priory as seen from The Heugh.
We can't blame Henry VIII & the Reformation for this one, since it appears that it was left intact as a naval storehouse & protection from the marauding Scots.

Lime trees along the Rothbury road (just visible disappearing downhill on the left of the track).
Our place is just a couple of hundred yards down the road from here. So we have a love-hate relationship with one of the lime trees which sits just over the garden fence.
We have the benefit of enjoying its beautiful lime-green in Spring and the oranges & golds of autumn. Conversely, in summer it blocks the late afternoon sun for a couple of hours and sheds lots of leaves into the garden!
