I see we've returned to this crappy layout in my absence!

Kings Lynn was once one of England's most important ports & is home to some gorgeous buildings which reflect its rich maritime history.
One of the best of these is the Custom House which dates back to 1683.

The crop is in, time to prepare for the next one. It looks to have worked out well for this farmer, but for many the rains have come before all the summer crops have been harvested. Insult to injury given the appalling start to the growing year.

Cromer beach and pier in 'natural' sepia from the rather dingy conditions!
The lifeboat house & slipway at the end of the pier are clearly visible. These were added to the pier in 1923 to house Cromer's first motorised lifeboat. Prior to this the lifeboat had to be dragged across the shingle before it could be launched, requiring much man-power before tractors came along to speed up & make launching much less onerous.

Happisburgh lighthouse stands in the middle of a field quite a way inland (~400yds)......
It was erected by Trinity House in 1791 along with another on the cliff-top, which was demolished in 1884 before the sea could do the job, coastal erosion being a very big problem along this coast).
A shot from our Norfolk holiday last September.
