Morris Motors was founded in 1912. The next year, the first model named 'Oxford' was released in recognition of Morris' home city. Various models bore the Oxford name, up to and including the Oxford II of 1954. This model succeeded the Oxford MO which had been introduced just after WWII in 1948, and for all intents looked like an enlarged Morris Minor MM.
The Morris Oxford II went under a number of minor iterations until the Farina-bodied Morris Oxford V of 1959. That was not the end of the car however, as the Oxford III update served as the basis for the Hindustan Ambassador, which was then manufactured for fifty years in India, and was, for most of that time, it's most popular car.
