287 items
Honningsvåg is the northernmost city of Norway located in the Nordkapp (North Cape) municipality. Although it is located at the northern extreme of Europe, it has a subarctic climate without permafrost, thanks to the Gulf Stream. The ice-free Barents Sea provides rich fisheries. Tourism is also important to the town. The North Cape’s midnight sun is famous. It never rises in winter or sets in summer and in fact, it is only 2,100 km (1,300 mi) from the North Pole.
