Trent, Leyland Atlantean 456 pictured on Market Place in Ripley in front of the market and Town hall. Originally numbered 1090, the bus was one of twenty-nine Roe bodied Leyland PDR1 'Atlanteans' (1067 - 1095), delivered new to Trent during 1960. Under the NBC, the bus later carried the fleet number 599, and remained in use with Trent into the late-mid 1970s.
Today, the Town hall is extended on the side facing to the left of picture, forming a height restriction to traffic entering the Market Place and the market area. Access is generally blocked to bus traffic here, all services having to load on the High Street on the other side of the Market.
