Danish designer Carl Jacobs was only 25 when his molded plywood shell chairs were first sold by British furniture manufacturer Kandya. The chairs were stackable, a revolutionary concept at the time.

In this eco-friendly Dallas living room, walls are painted Seed Pearl by Benjamin Moore. Vintage 1950s leather Katavolos/Littell/Kelley chairs, purchased at Collage Classics (collageclassics.com), face a vintage ‘50s Jens Risom love seat (found at a resale shop). The coffee table is from West Elm. The rug is from the Shibui Collection that homeowner Julie Cohn designed for Surya (surya.com).

In this eco-friendly Dallas living room designed by homeowners Julie Cohn and Dave Ralston, the facing wall is painted Seed Pearl by Benjamin Moore. They found the vintage lamp and Heywood Wakefield coffee table at Vinya (vinyadallas.com), and the circa 1963 Safari chair by Karen and Ebbe Clemmensen at Collage Classics (collageclassics.com). The sofa upholstery is from Henry Calvin (henrycalvin.com); the throw pillows are from Gardens (gardens-dallas.com) and IKEA. The Shibui Collection rug is one that Cohn designed for Surya (surya.com).

I've surfaced from a three-day Mad Men binge, and now all I can do is wait on tenterhooks for the Season 3 premiere next month. In the meantime, I'll continue to obsess over the work of Amy Wells, the show's incredible set designer. She's revealed a few of her furniture and decor sources in various interviews, without going so far as to identify specific pieces. I've read that set designers guard their sources carefully -- and I would, too, if my interiors looked as good as this!

Do a little research, though, and you'll learn that the chair, couch, and coffee table in Don Draper's office (above) are the 'Boxy' models from Futurama, a maker of custom vintage furniture in L.A. Word is that Wells shops there a lot, as well as at Xcape (in Long Beach). The chair in the foreground, above right, looks like Finn Juhl, but I have yet to find a model that's an exact match. If anyone has more info, please let me know!

Modern and cheerful, brown and blue... love it. For this Manhattan apartment, designer Eric Cohler selected a Comerford Hennessy dining table with maple butterfly joints and a "live" edge in the style of George Nakashima. The walnut-veneer chairs are re-editions of a 1958 Norman Cherner classic. Kitchen cabinetry is ebonized rift-cut cherry. Desiron barstools covered in Bergamo fabric.
