Class 08 - 08944, on the right of the photo, was built at BR Darlington Works, numbered D4174, in 08/1962, and was re-numbered 08944, under TOPS, in 04/1974. It was transferred to Mainline Freight Limited in 1994 and was withdrawn from service at Old Oak Common in 04/1998. It arrived at the ELR in early 2001. Similar 08164, seen on the left, is preserved in BR Blue. The locomotive was built at BR Darlington Works in 01/1956 and was initially numbered 13232. It was renumbered D3232 and then 08164 under TOPS. It was withdrawn from Gateshead Traction Depot in 03/1986 and sold to RFS Industries for further use at Doncaster before moving into preservation with the ELR and arriving in 01/1998.
