Two contrasting Leyland Titans and not that many years between them are seen here in the Coach & Lorry Park, Morecambe, while attending the RVPT Running Day on 28/05/2017. On the left is preserved Barrow Corporation Transport 169, CEO956, a Park Royal bodied PD2/40, one of a batch of ten, 161-70(CEO948-57), new in October 1958. Two are preserved, this and sister 170(CEO957) with the Barrow Transport Group and 165(CEO952) is still in existence, albeit in open-top form with an open-rear staircase. 169 made a much welcome re-appearance on the rally circuit in 2016 after several years in store while awaiting a new engine. The paintwork only needed a good clean and a touch up. In contrast, on the right, is preserved Ribble 1775, RCK920, a full-fronted Metro-Cammel bodied PD3/5. Delivered to Ribble in 5/62, an early semi-automatic and a classic Ribble bus, these were known as 'Tanks'. © Peter Steel 2017.
