Fares Please! was a transport event that was held over the three days of the extra May Bank Holiday Weekend, 6-8th. May 2023. This photo, taken at the entrance to Beamish, was taken on the middle day of this event, the 7th of May. The buses and coaches were running in an anti-clockwise direction while the trams were running in the clockwise direction. There were plenty of visiting preserved bus and coaches with some on display at the 'bus depot'. Leading the line of this trio is Cumbria Classic Coaches, Ravenstonedale, 'Rosie', CRN80, an East Lancs bodied Leyland Tiger PS1. New to Preston Corporation Transport(75), the chassis was new in 1946, and stored until around 06/1949 when it was bodied by East Lancs. subsidiary Yorskshire Equipment Company. Behind is preserved Lockeys, West Auckland, PFN858, a Park Royal bodied AEC Regent Mk.V 2LD3RA. Having been re-fitted with coach style seating in its upper-deck, this smart Regent was new to East Kent Road Car Co., in 04/1959. It was once a member of Tony Blackman's Halifax Joint Committee fleet. Bringing up the rear is Wright Bros., Nenthead, FUN319, a Burlingham bodied Crossley SD42/7. This was new to Peters, Llanarmon, Wales, in 05/1949. © Peter Steel 2023.
