Retaining Arriva Transport for Wales base livery but with Worth Valley fleetnames, this Class 143 pacer is seen here at Oxenhope Station, on the Keighley & Worth Vally Railway, on 22/03/2024. It arrived at the Keighley & Worth Valley from the Wensleydale Railway. It was originally acquired as a source of spares however it has seen service here.

With a maximum speed of 75 mph (121 km/h) these units have been refurbished and re-powered by Cummins LTA10-R 6-cylinder 10-litre units being originally fitted with the Leyland TL11 6-cylinder 11.1-litre unit. Built in 1985 to replace ageing DMU's on the BR networkand during their early years, the Class 143s were originally worked in the North-East of England. Subsequently, the entire fleet was transferred to Wales and South-West England. © Peter Steel 2024.
