The following photos will show the variety of motorcycles and hopefully portray the entry into Barrow-in-Furness of this fantastic event in memory of the late great, and Barrovian, Dave Myers, who sadly passed away from Cancer at the age of 66. Dave became a celebrity cook and a well known face on TV's cookery programme The Hairy Bikers with long time friend Si. King. In short, Lili Myers, the loving wife of the late Dave, Si King, and another of Dave's good friends, Jason 'Woody' Woodcock organised a tribute ride. The start of the ride was at Ace Cafe London, Stonebridge Park, which is situated on the North Circular Road to Barrow-in-Furness. At first it was expected that there would be c10,000 to 15,000 bikers take part. In the end, the total clocked by a roadside camera was 46,136 and a "35 mile procession" in the words of Si King. The event raised a total of £127,318.62, which was divided between the NSPCC and the Institute of Cancer Research, the two charities close to the heart of the late Dave Myers. On the success of Dave Day 2024, on 08/06/2024, another event has been planned for 21st. and 22nd. June 2025. Many bikers joined the convoy to Barrow at various points with locals travelling out to the M6 Motorway to meet the convoy and tag on. Scenes in Barrow town centre and along Abbey Road into the town were a sight to behold, also overbridges and roadsides along the route. I took around 1,400 photos, some good, plenty not so good and rather than flood my Flickr pages with them, I'm just going to upload a couple of videos and around thirty photos with the #DaveDay2024 title and maybe a bit of info. under each photo.
Unfortunately, some of these photos are blurred and I put that down to the lights from the motorcycles troubling my auto focus.
