Built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Co. these were also known as a Crompton. A total of ninety-eight of these Sulzer powered Bo-Bo locos were built for BR Southern Region between 1960 and 1962, an impressive Twenty-Six surviving into preservation. This one being new as D6525, is based at the East Lancashire Railway and is seen here at Bury Bolton Street, during the ELR Summer Diesel Gala, on 28/06/2024. It is awaiting departure hauling Service 1J56 11:05 Rawtenstall - Irwell Vale - Ramsbottom - Summerseat - Burrs Country Park - Bury Bolton Street - Heywood, due to arrive at Heywood at 12:15.
