These two preserved Leyland produced buses are seen here inside the North West Museum of Road Transport, St. Helens, on 16/10/2022. The Lynx II, like the National 2 had front mounted radiators whereas their respective predecessors had rear mounted radiators. Both were rear engined vehicles with the Lynx succeeding the National on the production line. On the right of the photo is preserved MTL North, 6140, XLV140W, a National 2 NL116AL11/1R. This 'podless' version, restored in MTL North livery, was new to Merseyside PTE(6140), in 03/1981, being the second numerically in a large batch of twenty-five, while nearest the camera is preserved Halton Transport, 57, K853MTJ, a Lynx II LX2R11C15Z4R. New to Halton Transport, in 08/1992, this was the very last Leyland Lynx to be built and to enter service in the U.K. Halton, also had the first municipal supplied Leyland National, as Widnes Corporation, and the last Leyland National 2 to be built and therefore being the last supplied to a municipal operator. Both are preserved with the first being 'el residento' here. © Peter Steel 2022.

Delivered to Halton Transport, the successor of Widnes Corporation, in 11/1990, smart Lynx was retired by Halton, an operator now no longer, in 2002. It passed to Isle Coaches, Owston Ferry for three years prior to entering preservation. It is seen here at the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust's open and running day, Kirkby Industrial Estate, Liverpool, on 05/06/2022. © Peter Steel 2022.
