New to Merseyside PTE, in 11/1971, this was one of a 125 'Jumbo' Atlanteans, as they became known, delivered to the PTE over a two year period. It was one of several to have worked for Isle of Man National Transport, where it was registered MAN3460, and it returned to it's native Liverpool in 2017 for preservation. After a thorough restoration and painted into City of Liverpool reversed livery, a livery which was used on some single-deck but not double deck buses, it is seen here on Lees Road, Knowsley North Industrial Estate, Kirkby, Liverpool, on 02/06/2024, during the annual North West Vehicle Restoration Trust's Open & Running Day. © Peter Steel 2024.

New to Merseyside PTE(1235), in 04/1972, this Atlantean had crossed back over the Irish Sea earlier on in preservation and regained it's original registration, XKC862K, having been amongst a number of these MPTE 'Jumbos', so called of their length, to have crossed the Irish Sea to work for Isle of Man Transport. It then returned to the Isle of Man for continued preservation and has received it's former IoM reg. MAN3432. A little bit of confusion though now, maybe on my part, but it now carries fleetnumber 48. On extended loan to the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust, Kirkby, Liverpool, it is seen here Lees Road, Knowsley Industrial Estate North, Kirkby, Liverpool, on 02/06/2024, during their annual Open and Running Day. © Peter Steel 2024.
