The National 2 was introduced in 1979. It differed from its predecessor mainly by having a wider choice of engines, along with a new nose moulding giving it a more bulbous look and a grille to cool the new front-mounted radiator, and a revised rear end with new lights and a different engine door. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyland_National.

They are seen here at the former Leyland National plant at Lillyhall, near Workington, at the end of the Workington Transport Heritage Trust's 'Leyland National 52' event, on 05/05/2024, which was the final day of two. This event was to commemorate fifty-two years since the entry into service of the first National to be constructed at the Lillyhall plant that is situated near Workington, and it was organised due to the successes of the 'Leyland National 50' and 'Leyland National 51' events. At the end of each of these events, a road run has taken place for those who wish from Whitehaven Harbour to the former Leyland National factory, most of which is now owned by Culina Group/Eddie Stobart/Great Bear. © Peter Steel 2024.
