New to South Yorkshire PTE, in 04/1980, and latterly operated with Isle Coaches, Owston Ferry, this National 2 has now been restored to original livery having latterly had a later style 'SYT' fleetname. It is seen here on West Strand, Whitehaven, on 30/04/2023, when about to operate out to the Ennerdale Brewery calling at the former Leyland National factory at Lillyhall, Workington, on the return journey. This was a great run out. This was during the 'Leyland National 51' celebrations that were organised by the Workington Transport Heritage Trust to commemorate fifty-one years since the entry into service of the first National to be constructed at the Lillyhall plant that is situated near Workington. The first service operated was a Whitehaven town service to Lowca by Cumberland Motor Services, 350, ERM35K, a 1151/2R/0401, dual-doored bus. That was new in 03/1972, with the production number being 00005. This photo was taken on the second day of the event which was organised on the back of the success as the previous year's 'Leyland National 50' event. © Peter Steel 2023.

New as a front entrance/exit double decker to T. Severn & Sons Ltd., in 1964 and acquired as such by South Yorkshire PTE, in 03/1979 being numbered 1156, when they acquired several local independents. Converted to a towing tender by the PTE and is now smartly turned out and preserved to a high standard. It is seen here at Coach Street Car Park, Skipton, when attending the Aire Valley Transport Group Yorkshire Dales Rally & Running Day on 13/10/2019. © Peter Steel 2019.
