As part of the Great North Steam Fair, two steam locomotives were invited to operated at Beamish and also acted as publicity for the R & ER. Heading towards the camera operating at the 1900's Pit Village is River Irt. This locomotive is the oldest working 15" gauge loco. in the world having been built in 1894 by Sir Arthur Heywood, Duffield Bank, Derbyshire, as an 0-8-0 tank locomotive named Muriel. Pushing is Katie, another visitor from the R & ER. Photo taken on 14/04/2019.
