......well not quite home, as we had another 300+ miles of coach travel to go, but it was back to Southampton after a lovely two weeks Western Mediterranean Cruise aboard P&O Cruises Azura - IMO: 9424883. Two other cruise ships are seen in the port as well as a Red Jet Hydrofoil and restored tug, Calshot. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSS_T/T_Calshot for more details. The cruise ship nearest the camera is Royal Caribbean International - Independence of the Seas - IMO: 9349681. She would later head for France & Spain on a six night cruise to Paris(Le Havre), Gijon, Bilbao then back to Southampton. The ship in the distance is TUI Cruises - Mein Schiff 5 - IMO: 9753193.
This photo, was taken on 24/08/2019, from Azura when she had just returned to Southampton after the cruise from the Mayflower Terminal, Southampton - Cádiz - Barcelona - Livorno - Civitavecchia - Cartagena - Gibraltar - Ocean Terminal, Southampton. After a quick turnaround, Azura would head up to the Fijords for a seven night cruise.
Azura was built in 2010 by Fincantieri, Monfalcone, Italy. Laid down in October 2008, launched in June 2009 and Christened on 10th. April 2010 with her maiden voyage on the 12th. Part of the Grand Class of cruise ships, the earlier and similar Ventura being her sister ship. Registered in Hamilton, Bermuda, she has a GTW of 115,055, has nineteen decks of which fourteen are passenger accessible giving a maximum passenger capacity of 3,096 and 1,226 crew. The Atrium is the focal centre of the ship. Plenty to do in this area including shopping, musicians, dancing and people watching. A couple of bars and a Costa Coffee franchise complete the scene.
