The Metroliner was an advanced model produced by Birmingham based Metro-Cammell and was, in the main, used by a few National Express operators for their double-deck coaching needs although City of Oxford bought some for their high profile Oxford - London Citylink branded services. Those used on National Express services were hammered and never lasted long in original form or with their original operators. They became popular converted to open-top and used on London sightseeing duties to enable them to move the masses in what was an increasingly competitive market, although, as can be seen here on this example about to join Oxford Street, at Marble Arch, on a hot 04/08/1995. It was new to Great Yarmouth based Ambassador Travel(918), in 03/1986, being only one four supplied new; 915-8, C915BPW etc. It was acquired by London Coaches, the former London Buses subsidiary, in 1994.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being a Boots Colourslide.

London Pride was an Ensignbus operation, with the well known Purfleet/Rainham based dealership also converting vehicles. New to Wessex National(222), in 07/1984, it passed to Ensignbus and converted for London sightseeing duties. It is seen here with what looks like a fair load of punters on A4 Shaftesbury Avenue, Piccadilly Circus, in early 08/1993. It was a non-Rapide version of the Metroliner with Wessex. i.e. no toilet, servery etc., therefore seating more passengers in less comfort although non too shabby in saying that.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent 'Fujichrome' colourslide.

East Kent Road Car took delivery of eleven of these rare Metroliner single deck coaches between 05/1983 and 08/1984, this one being the last of the first batch being delivered in 05/1983 registered FKK847Y. It received this 'ESU' plate in 03/1988 and is seen here at Turners Coach Park/Rigby Road Coach Park, Blackpool, on 15/07/1995. The coach park is now part of the Foxhall Village housing development. New in 06/1986, registered C902JOF, these giants operated the London Liner service to Birmingham. This was previously a joint service with London Coaches who had three similar Metroliners(ML1-3: C101-3DYE) in an attractive Red livery with Gold lining. All three were subsequently acquired by Central as they became the sole operator on this route. See comment below, kindly provided by vbvfwcsi92. 1902 is seen here exiting Elizabeth Street, turning left onto Buckingham Palace Road, having just departed the nearby London Victoria Coach Station, when on it's way back home, in 10/1993. Also of note is the Sergio Tacchini Italian fashion brand logo on the rear offside.

London Pride was an Ensignbus operation, with the well known Purfleet/Rainham based dealership also converting vehicles. New to West Yorkshire Road Car Co.(2008), in 03/1986, registered C757CWX, it then passed to National Express owned Yorkshire Voyager. It arrived at Ensignbus in 1991 for London sightseeing duties and is seen here having just departed it's stop at Grosvenor Gardens, in 1993.
