This photo was taken in the Furness & Midland Hall, Carnforth Station Heritage Centre on 26/05/1989. It coincided with the RVPT Rally & Running Day, which like the Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs. Morecambe depot Open & Running Day, on the previous day, was celebrating the centenary of Ribble Motor Services. © Peter Steel 2019.

New to Ribble(1392), in 09/1955, this PD2 is seen here in Lancaster Bus Station, on layover from Driver Training duties, in what I think is early to mid-June, in 1978. The tail end of a Ford Escort Mark II is seen to the left with two Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68's seen to the rear of the PD2. A Pennine, Gargrave Plaxton Elite Express bodied Leyland Leopard possibly JWU798N is seen to the right.

The film used was a Kodak Colourslide.

I know it's not the best of photos, it probably wasn't the best of cameras and at the time, I wasn't really good on capturing moving buses, especially side-on. A total of a 112 of these 'short-pod' Nationals were acquired new, from 687, SCK687P through to 798, CBV798S from 1976 to 1977. This one is seen here entering a cold Preston Bus Station on c.03/1978.

I think the camera was a Halina 1000 and the colourslide film was Boots Colourslide II.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1978.

A little bit of variety here in this photo taken in what is possibly September 1983. It was definitely no later than the September. On the left is 1404, NRN404P, a Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68/1R, new in 04/1976 while on the right is sister 1394, new a month prior. In the centre at the rear of the parking area is 303, LRN303J, a Marshall bodied Bristol RESL6L, new in 01/1971. A sister RE is seen to the right while a Leyland National is to the left.

The film used was Agfa Colourslide with the camera being a Praktica MTL3.

At the beginning of deregulation on 26/10/1986, large swathes of urban operations were taken over by 'minibus mania' and the then NBC owned Ribble was no exception. Ribble was initially privatised in 03/1988 in a management buyout, however, by the time this photo was taken at Blackburn Boulevard Bus Station on 01/12/1989, Ribble was under Stagecoach control, having been acquired by them in 05/1989. This little Merc. arrived just in time for de-regulation, being new in 10/1986. It is seen here operating the Hyndburn Circular.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3.
