This tidy B6 was new to Hedingham & District(L208), Sibble Hedingham, in 06/1994. Hedingham later became part of the Go-Ahead Group. New to Yorkshire Rider(5659), in 01/1999, passing to First as 30839 then Stagecoach upon the takeover of the First depots at Chester and Rock Ferry, the he Gillmoss depot of Stagecoach sent this rather smart Alexander Royale bodied Olympian for display at the 3rd. The Marshall bodied AEC Swift became the mainstay of the St. Helens Corporation fleet. Here the first in a batch of nine, 260 JDJ260K, with dual doors, delivered in 02/1972, sits in between two of the more modern single deckers in preservation. Since my last main photo of this vehicle, it has lost it's St. Helens crest and fleetnumber in favour of the 'Merseyside' motif. This livery was first used when the St. Helens undertaking was absorbed into Merseyside PTE, upon local government re-organization in 1974. Nearest the camera is preserved Merseybus 7227, L227TKA, a Volvo B6-50 with Plaxton Pointer bodywork, delivered to MTL Manchester in 05/1994, and furthest away from the camera is preserved MTL Wirral Peninsula 7533, P533MBU, a Dennis Dart SLF SFD322, also with Plaxton Pointer bodywork, new in 06/1997. This was Volvo's version of the more popular Dennis Dart, so whereas Dennis lost out to MCW on the Dominator they more than gained with the Dart over the B6. New to Stagecoach United Counties(418), in 09/1993, this B6 had made it to the grand age of 18 and three-quarters when seen here at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Coach Park, on 24/06/2012. It is operating on Paul's Stag Do - Last Night of Freedom. I suspect Paul made it home, with or without the B6 as these weren't the most reliable of buses!
