Built in 06/1987, this Sherpa was built near the beginning of the minibus/breadvan era of the British deregulation scene, for demonstration to operators around the country. National Welsh took this style in significant numbers. I don't think the 'Breadvan' name will ever be forgotten by bus enthusiasts and drivers from that time. They were practical for routes into housing estates where pre-dereg. buses were nowhere to be seen. In my opinion, at least some good has come from that time, making buses more accessible to millions of people previously un-served by public transport. These new routes tended to be 'Hail & Ride' or high frequency services with drivers on lower rates of pay. Many of these routes survive to-day with the mini-bus being developed into the larger Optare Solo and Dennis Dart meaning easier access for all. It is seen here on display at the Dalton Lane, Riverside premises of the Keighley Bus Museum Trust, at the Keighley Bus Museum Trust and Transdev Keighley & District Open Day, on 26/04/2015. © Peter Steel 2015.
