The London Eye, or the Millennium Wheel, is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames, near Westminster Bridge. It is Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel, and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3 million visitors annually. The structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). When it opened to the public in 2000 it was the world's tallest Ferris wheel. This view was taken looking eastwards from Westminster Bridge, on 04/08/2000.
The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a Fujichrome Colourslide.

This view is looking in what I think is roughly a westerly direction and shows Westminster Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster. The palace serves as the meeting place of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords that form the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. They are informally known as the Houses of Parliament. A restaurant barge is seen about to pass under the bridge and road traffic on the bridge includes several Routemaster buses and two Optare Excels and what's with "Dump the Pump" on the articulated lorry to the left of the photo? This view is looking in a westerly direction towards what will now be a much changed view towards the Vauxhall area, on the left of River Thames, of which is prominent and looking towards Putney. Photo taken on 04/08/2000.
