New to Barrow, in 06/1988, a rare preserved example of the Talbot Pullman, this example is owned by the Barrow Transport Group. Originally leased to Barrow Borough Transport in all-over white, and fitted with bus seats, in a bid to fend off competition from Ribble, this is preserved in BBT Blue Line livery and fitted with coach type seats. It is seen here on display near the Midland Hotel, Morecambe, at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust Morecambe Running Day, on 06/05/2012. This Talbot is now carrying it's original registration after carrying VIL8730. © Peter Steel 2012.

New in 02/1990, this Peugeot-Talbot Freeway was acquired from a charity by the Barrow Transport Group in 2008, initially for spares, to keep their former Barrow Borough Transport, 100, E571MAC, a similar Talbot Pullman on the road, which can be seen in the distance, however it was found to be in sound condition and was painted in this blue & cream livery for use as a mobile trade stand/spares carrying vehicle. It is currently off the road. I don't have a lot of history on it, but it may have been a Peugeot-Talbot demonstrator. It is seen here near the Midland Hotel, Morecambe, when on display at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust Morecambe Running Day, on 06/05/2012. © Peter Steel 2012.

Alongside is Barrow Corporation Transport, 104, LEO734Y, a Northern Counties bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68D/1R. This was one of three, 104-6, LEO734-6Y, that were delivered to Barrow, in 02/1983. Next is G571BHP, a Peugeot-Talbot Freeway. New in 02/1990, this was purchased from a charity for spares for preserved Barrow Borough Transport the other Talbot Pullman in this view, but was found to be in a sound condition and is now used by the group for transporting the fundraising stall and vehicle spares. Meanwhile, futhesy from the camera, is Barrow Corporation Transport 170, CEO957, a Park Royal bodied Leyland Titan PD2/40. This was the last numerically in a batch of ten supplied to Barrow, in 10/1958. Sister 169, CEO956, is also preserved by the group but is restored in the later livery that has more cream. All vehicles in this view are currently off the road awaiting attention. © Peter Steel 2012.
