Due through heading south was preserved British Railways steam locomotive Tangmere - 34067, a former Southern Railways Bullied Pacific, to pass through south when hauling the The Northern Belle - Carlisle to Manchester Victoria, via Appleby, Ribblehead, Hellifield, Clitheroe, Blackburn and Preston. The remainder of the journey would be hauled by diesel locomotives, passing through Bolton, Salford Central, and Manchester Victoria.
