APT-E stands for Advanced Passenger Train - Experimental. Built by BR Research Division, Derby, in 1970, it entered service from 1972 until 1976. It was formed of four cars - two power and two trailers. Powered by Leyland 20/350 Gas Turbine engines and capable of 156mph, this was never used in ordinary public service and came to NRM York in 06/1976 for preservation. It is now at NRM Shildon.

The film used was a Boots Colourslide II, with a Halina 1000 camera.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1978.
