These former London Underground Tube Stock were built between 1923 and 1931. Purchased by BR in 1967 for the Island Line on the Isle of Wight to replace steam locomotives, they are seen here at Ryde in a very warm Spring Bank Holiday 1978. These have since been replaced by the later 1938 Tube Stock. On the left can be seen Seaview Services VDL264K, a Plaxton Derwent bodied Bedord YRQ, new to Seaview in 03/1972, and in the distance can be seen one of the cross-Solent Isle of Wight ferries
The film used was a Kodak Colourslide.
