New to Heywood & Prosser, Bedworth, in 09/2000, this Cannon is one of only three Cannon Softline chassis built. Cannon Bus, was a Northern Ireland-based chassis manufacturer. Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire had a depot at Carnforth, at this time but have since been taken over by The Travellers Choice, also of Carnforth. It is seen here on display at the Wirral Bus & Tram Show, Shore Road, Birkenhead, on 02/10/2005, having brought yours truly along with other members of the Barrow Transport Group and Ribble Vehicle Preservation Group from Morecambe. Alongside is Preserved Greater Manchester PTE, 1751 C751YBA, a Northern Counties bodied Dennis Domino SDA1201. From 09/1985 to 01/1986, Greater Manchester Transport took delivery of twenty of these Dennis Dominos. Numbered 1751-70, they replaced the bouncy Seddon Pennine IV 236s on the Centreline service that linked Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria stations. This smart Domino is the only remaining example from this batch and it was purchased by the SELNEC Preservation Society in 1998. It had passed to GM Buses (South) when GM Buses was split in 12/1993, and it was inherited by Stagecoach Manchester in 02/1996.

The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a Jessops Colourslide.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 2005.
