There were several bus chassis seen here awaiting bodying with double-deck bodies at the former East Lancashire Coachbuilders factory, Whitebirk Industrial Estate, Whitebirk Drive, Blackburn, at a bus rally on 02/07/2006. This is a different chassis from the one in my other photo. If I remember correctly there had been a road run from Whinfields, Haslingden. Tours of the factory were also available. East Lancashire Coachbuilders were founded in Blackburn in 1934 however the company went into administration for a short while in 08/2007, before being bought by Darwen Group and performed a complicated reverse takeover with Optare when its parent purchased the company in 2008. This site and business was later closed in 2012.
The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a Fujichrome Colourslide.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 2006.
