Now with its Hungarian style Northern Irish reg. plate, it was originally registered E510WEX on these shores. Its original Hungarian plate was BPI-276. New in 1987, it is powered by a RÁBA 10.350cc diesel and is fitted with a ZF-Ecomat auto gearbox making some wonderful sounds. It is seen here making a welcome appearance on climbing A5094 New Road, Whitehaven, during the second and final day of the Workington Transport Heritage Trust's excellent 'Leyland National 51' event, on 30/04/2023. This event was to commemorate fifty-one years since the entry into service of the first National to be constructed at the Lillyhall plant that is situated near Workington, and it was organised due to the success of the 'Leyland National 50' event. This Ikarus had just returned from a lively and interesting run to the former Leyland National plant. It is passing just something a little more mundane to the British eyes, preserved Stagecoach Manchester, 983, R983XVM, an Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M-60.
