This prototype Beadle-Commer Integral with Rootes TS3 two stroke engine mounted amidships is seen here at Crewe Heritage Centre during a Rally & Running Day, on 05/04/2009. One of Roger Burdett's immaculate collection, it was new as a Beadle demonstrator in 11/1955. It then passed to Moss Motor Tours, Sandown, Isle of Wight, in whose livery it carries here, well the blue was theirs anyway! J.C. Beadle, Dartford, built bodies for buses and coaches and also integral buses and coaches and also rebuilds. A bit of variety can be seen here. On the left of the Commer is preserved Hants & Dorset 1523, DEL893C, a smart ECW bodied Bristol Lodekka FLF6B. New to Hants & Dorset in 06/1965, this later passed to Crosville Motor Services. Not the original one but the fledgling Weston-super-Mare based one, however it was later sold abroad to the Netherlands. To the right in the distance is Arriva North West, 3122, C212GTU, an ECW bodied Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R. The ECW bodied Olympian was the main purchase for NBC operators, most succeeding the ECW bodied Bristol VR. New to Crosville(EOG212), for the X1 Cymru Coastliner service, in 01/1986, as a DP seated version, it was still in service when seen here. It later passed to Arriva Cymru where it was converted to open-top three months after this photo was taken and it received fleetnumber 3998. It was the last remaining ex-Crosville bus in service with Arriva Cymru. Withdrawn in 2014, it has since been acquired for preservation. Alongside the Olympian is preserved PMT, L466, NEH466, a 1949 Leyland Titan OPD2/1 with a 1951 Northern Counties body. This rare OPD2/1, denoting an overseas chassis, was new to PMT in 12/1949 and re-bodied in 1954 with a 1951 Northern Counties lowbridge body taken from a pre-war Leyland Titan TD4 that was new numbered L59 and registered DVT903. The export order was cancelled and the bus was supplied new fitted with a Weymann body. Alongside is the APT-E.
The camera being a Pentax MZ-M with the film being a FujiChrome Colourslide.
