Progress Rail Services Ltd., Nottingham, converted Class 56 locomotives into Class 69s at their workshops in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent which was to fulfil the needs of GB Railfreight who could not purchase anymore Class 66 locos. The Class 69s have had a full overhaul, a redesigned cab and new EMD diesel engines.
