On 17th July 1989 47597 eases across Ribblehead (Batty Moss) Viaduct with the 12:43 Carlisle to Leeds service. The ten coach consist gives an idea of the loadings these trains were carrying at the time.

Well it was April 1985 and there were S&C diversions, so bad weather was a definite, there are few places more miserable to be than Ribblehead in these conditions of falling sleet, which of course was lying. However 4M12 the up parcels to Euston had a pair of "Rats" allocated, a Class 47 and I think I would have been sitting in the car with the heater running full tilt! 25239 & 302 were the motive power on the 6th of the month.
