I have a small number of pictures of working BR stream in 1967/8, technically not the best, taken with a rather iffy camera. I shot but one roll of colour negative film, 80 ASA is the speed that comes to mind (Kodacolor X). Unfortunately as a teenager my record keeping was totally non-existent! So I don't know exactly where this is, possibly Widnes? So if anybody recognises it...

A Google search and dig confirms this must indeed be Widnes.

More to come, I picked a file out of the cupboard and came across this, forgotten for quite a few years. Hope you find them of some interest.

Taken in 1968 I think, location close to the adjacent picture, same rubbish camera. It's an 8F with a load of unfitted 16t mineral/coal wagons. Location is Widnes. The leaf shutter of said camera has not stopped this.

The same 8f hauled train as in the adjacent picture heads away from the camera. Location currently unknown, taken 1967/8 In NW England. A common type of freight train in the 1960s, mainly composed of unfitted steel body mineral wagons. A Google search and trawl now confirms location is Widnes.

Heading for work

As an 8f passes above him a member of BR staff heads for work at the nearby locomotive shed at Widnes (see adjacent picture). The tanks the loco is hauling are not normal petroleum tanks, bitumen maybe? Taken in 1967 or 68, probably the latter.

The member of BR staff seen in the adjacent picture heads up the road towards his place of work, Widnes steam shed. On the left is a Ford Corsair V4 car. Posted for it's interest, not technical quality. .
