Synagogue, Groningen, The Netherlands

Originally named the " etz Chayim" synagogue.
It all started in 1732 when Moses Goldsmidt pawned a house in the Poelestraat for the jewish community. In 1754 the jewish community bought somehouses in the Folkingestraat and buitl the synagogue in 1756.
It became a ruine and was rebuilt, opened and inaugurated in 1906.
In 1942, almost all of the jewish members were deported and the building was sold after the war and became a laundry in 1952.
In 1972 a woman called Lenny Wolgen-Salomons raised money to save the almost torned down building and founded the "Folkingestraat synagogue foundation in 1975.
Now it is restaurated and still in use today.
