The Washington Monument at dusk in our nation’s capital. All week long I will be sharing some of my favorite images I captured while in DC. A few are your standard points of view but I also have some new compositions that I’m proud of. This one the daytime skies were blending into the evening and the blue hour quickly turned into this purple. Royalty was dressed in purple back in the past and it seemed fitting for this night. The glow off the monument was golden for what seemed like hours even in the waning moments of daylight. When expanded, you can see the slight ripples in the water on the top of the monument.

Just back home from a long roadtrip to the East Coast. First stop was Washington DC. It was surreal to be on the National Mall and stand where Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous speech of “I Have a Dream”. We made all the rounds in the city but being right here in this spot was the highlight of this part of the trip for me. The three monuments of Jefferson, Lincoln, and the Washington Monument were incredible to take in. I have to comment to the fact that I was suprised to see the city be so clean and have lots of trees surrounding these areas. I had reports from others to the opposite of these findings. We walked about seven miles the first day and then decided to take the city bicyles the next and that was a major win for travelling around town. Click L to view the image in larger detail.

“In This Temple..."
Back to some Washington DC captures I acquired from a week ago. My first time in the Nation’s Capital and I was awe struck at the national mall. My personal favorite president was Abraham Lincoln. Seeing his monument, being in the theater where he was assassinated, and where they took him next door to lay his body down to pass away were quite some personal moments for me. The Lincoln theater holds the gun that took his life. Stories I’ve only read about came to life for me. Here is the monument. I left the people bustling about as it added some nice buzz to the scene. I wonder if they know his story?
