We planted a few Persian Ironwood trees in our local park last year; I hadn’t heard of them before so it was a lovely surprise to see this pretty blossom on them so early in the year.

We discovered this ancient beech tree in Cranham Woods the other day. It is fenced so that people are not able to walk too close as the roots have become shallow and could be damaged, this results in falling branches. I don’t know exactly how old it is but it’s good to know that it’s being protected.

Taken in our local park at last week’s volunteer gardening session. I couldn’t remember what this one was so took the photo to identify it, it’s Sarcococca hookeriana, what a great name, I might remember it for next year now! Also called Winter gem… Processed for Sliders Sunday.
