WWT Caerlaverock hosts members of the Svalbard population of this attractive goose. Despite devastating losses of over 10 000 birds on the reserve in 2021/22 due to HPAI the birds are gradually making a comeback and are a truly spectacular sight over the Solway Marshes where around 30 000 gather during the winter
