These guys and the yellow warblers seem to be everywhere this summer.

Here is an interesting perspective.

The odd nice looking male goldfinch was showing up at Brookwood Marsh today.

When I was a kid I used to think that goldfinches only came around in the spring. In actual fact, the males are only that bright yellow during the spring and summer. In the off season they revert back to their original brown plumage and live among us all winter. This guy is part way between the brown and the yellow stages and will be in full mating plumage soon.

Thought it was a neat contrast with the patterns on the weathered fence and the black and white on the bird's wings and tail. Perhaps I am the only one who sees it?
