CHRISTIAN DEDEENE, THE BALLET DANCER...

Still one of my favourite portraits.
He was for 5 years a solo and star dancer with one of the greatest choreographers of the last century, Maurice Béjart .

I was fortunate to have him in our studio a couple of times, and what an experience it was, each time.
After I'd seen him in action and done the 'dance photos', I asked him if he would pose for this portrait I had in my head.
I know how these people work out day after day, I admired the definition in the muscle-tones and tendons.

The result is what I had imagined, the proud profile, the wild hair, and THE DEFINITION.
I love dramatic lighting, especially for this kind of subject.

Thanks Christian, for being so patient and sharing my artistic vision.

Thank you, M, (*_*)

A shoot at the CASINO, I was like a kid in a toy-shop for the first time. I couldn't believe my eyes, they had many games I'd never seen, I thought it was just about the classic stuff, like black jack, baccarat, roulette.
Aaachhh, I've lead such a sheltered life!!! HA.
I asked what this was for, the glasss covering the dice was hermetically closed, no more bets, the copper cloche was put over it, electronically the dice were 'shaken' (not stirred!), the glass dome uncovered and people could see how their luck had fallen...
I could not resist taking a photo of it.
I'm in there you know!
We were in the Casino, during closing time, the day, to take photos for their publicity.
These that you see, just 'my bit on the side', free stuff... View On proper Black
THANX, Magda, (*_*)

I feel that those two photos belong together.
I particularly like the tension in this one, he's forceful, she's graceful.
Again the dramatic lighting set-up for the occasion. Thanx for viewing, M, (*_*)

This was a shoot for a glossy Casino magazine, the client wanted transparencies, I'm not fond of working with slide film so Paul was the main photographer, which means I take care of all the rest, the liaising, the models, clothes and the dresses, jewelry, hair and make-up stylist, other needs for all involved.
I always have my cameras and lenses with me off course, I back up things and during breaks, I'll always have a go and enjoy myself.
As I had never been in a casino, it was all new to me and challenging.

The lights were set up for entertainment, leisure and pleasure. It was very important that the 'lights' on the table be visible, a lot of time spent on light-readings to have the right balance.

As one of the poses was to be for the cover, we needed space for text and strap lines. Had to take that into account for the composition.
"The model, a beautiful 'accessory' = something non-essential but desirable that contributes to an effect or result."
As so many of you were getting curious about her... Here she is!
These images were taken only for my own pleasure, the model happy with them too.

This was during another break.
Always liked this shot, love the balanced out light.
Yes, I had some great fun.
