I always hated the original I did of this pic - and now I've trashed it. (I think it was my first
Star Trek picture.) My new version is a much better original, and I think I've improved my skills a bit in the last 6 years, too. Perfect? Hardly. But much better. Also, I kinda prefer the uniforms from the pilots, and that's what we have here. You'll also notice (should you check the original) that I have my face shaded incorrectly - maybe I'll fix it in another decade or so!
Seems to have been some sort of promotional photo of Kirk in the transporter room; out of some magazine, no doubt published in 1966. Here's the original:
