After Ed "Big Daddy" Roth became famous for his custom automobiles, he preceded to create a pop culture empire consisting of clothing, wall art, stickers, music albums, and plastic model kits. This kit, Surfink! was released by Revell in 1964, incorporating the seemingly unconnected surf, Beatnik, and monster movie cultures. (I think that Dinghead Gremmy is the creature's name.) Hang ten, daddy-o!

I'm not at all sure who made this picture, what it is called, or when it was made. It seems to be a painting of a cross between Jesus and Satan, however, which is pretty cool looking! Couldn't get the original's dripping blood quite right, but I liked the finished result nonetheless.

And, since I posted a pic of Mark Ryden, why not another one of his paintings? This is Dead Characters (1997), showing characters that are dead - or on the way there, anyway. Jesus (me!), Bob's Big Boy, Reddy Kilowatt, Elsie the Cow, and others ride the pink river Styx towards oblivion.
