A starling is about to join a companion hitching a ride aboard a bison at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Denver, Colorado. This refuge is at the former site of a chemical weapons manufacturing plant that was closed in 1992. The site has been remediated and today is the home of a herd of bison, wintering bald eagles,prairie dogs and many other species.
