The sun has dipped below the horizon and I stand in trepidation in the hope my hands will stay steady enough in the cold, low light conditions to capture the action. Fortunately, Fujifilm cameras are excellent in such conditions. An SY locomotive laden with mine spoil from Wulong Colliery, slowly pushes back its way up the incline to tip the waste on a man made hill composed of spoil from underground mine operations and flyash from the power stations. The steep incline means the locos must work hard with the consequence of spectacular smoke plumes. That's a lone figure, silhouetted, just seen at the back of the train, who is subjected to the horrendous dust and bitterly cold conditions of a Chinese winter.
