A hand-tinted reward of merit printed by Jos. Laing & Co. According to Patricia Fenn and Alfrd P. Malpa's book Rewards of Merit (1994), p. 209, Joseph Laing was in the printing business from about 1850 to 1870.
The only handwriting on this reward of merit that I've been able to decipher is "Wiliam," the first name of the teacher.
