I walked by this sign many times and wondered about the crossed-out "tobacco" and added "pie." I finally realized that some wiseacre with a single stroke of a magic marker had transformed the cigarette icon into what looks like a slice of pie, thereby changing the no-smoking area into a Pie Free Zone!
P.S. I guess this isn't as innovative as I initially thought, since I just noticed that there appear to be at least five other similar "No Pie" signs in the Altered Signs group. I didn't, however, spot any other entire zones that were pie free. 8-)

"Please be alert as you enjoy this trail. Rattlesnakes are in the area."
A foreboding sign along one of the walking trails at the Elk County Visitor Center, which is located on Winslow Hill Road, Benezette, Elk County, Pa. On the other side of this sign (see below), the original mesage simply said, "Stay on paths" and "Keep out of field." Fortunately, we didn't spot any snakes.

A sign along one of the walking trails at the Elk County Visitor Center, which is located on Winslow Hill Road, Benezette, Elk County, Pa. Actually, the other side of this sign was the one facing the trail (see below), and its more dramatic message warned, "Please be alert as you enjoy this trail. Rattlesnakes are in the area." Fortunately, we didn't encounter any rattlers.
