"Union Hotel Baths. Hot, cold, and plunge. Season 1867."
According to Wikipedia, the Grand Union Hotel in Saratoga Springs, New York, had a long and storied history that began with its origin in 1802 as a boarding house that served visitors to the local mineral springs, continued during its development into the world's largest hotel, and then ended with its eventual decline and demolition in the 1950s.
During the hotel's height of popularity in the 1860s, its name was changed from "Union Hall" to the "Grand Union Hotel," and it "offered spacious bath houses with hot and cold showers, plunge and swimming baths."
With "Union Hotel Baths" printed on one side and "Union Hall" embossed on the other side (see below), this bathhouse pass from 1867 reflected both the old and new hotel names.
